Migration card
In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of August 16th, 2004, No. 413 "Regarding the Migration Card" upon entrance to the Russian Federation, a foreign national is obliged to obtain and fill out a migration card, present it to a border control official, who, in accordance with the information entered into the migration card, the information contained in his visa and passport, stamps the migration card upon entry to the Russian Federation.
Migration card forms are issued to foreign nationals upon entrance to the Russian Federation free of charge by border control officials or representatives of organizations providing transport services to foreign nationals entering the Russian Federation.
A foreign national must keep the migration card in his/her possession during their entire stay in the Russian Federation and it must be presented alongside other documents for registration at their location of residence.
In the event of damage to or loss of the migration card, the foreign national is obliged to report it to the territorial body of the Russian Ministry of the Interior at their location of residence within three days. When a foreign national submits documents on the premise of which they entered the Russian Federation, they are given a duplicate of the migration card for free.
When leaving the Russian Federation, a foreign national is required to hand over the migration card to a border official at a checkpoint along the Russian Federation's border.
